A question about your music buying habits

GalacticStar3ruption [Edit] [Delete] 16:14, 21 January '09

Do you...

a) Buy one release from an artist and then upon realising how much you like said artist, proceed with buying the rest of their output?

b) Buy one release from an artist and despite liking it a lot, you then forget about purchasing anything else for ages and instead discover new artists?

or...

c) Is there no real pattern, in relation to point a) and b)?

I definitely fall into category b), very much so. I'm trying to change because it's starting to get on my nerves, in that I hardly ever complete my collection of albums from one artist. I remember buying "The Always Open Mouth" by "Fear Before The March of Flames" quite a long time ago (in a music buying sense anyway) and despite loving it, not getting any of their other releases.

I think that part of the problem, is when I buy an artists mose revered album first, (I usually do some research, sometimes I'll ask you guys) so I'm automatically sceptical about their other releases. I'm worried that I'll be disappointed, even though I know that's not necessarily what will end up happening.

It also could be considered more exciting to buy something completely new, when you don't really know what to expect.

Any thoughts?
