Amp advice (please)

TimmyL [Edit] [Delete] 17:30, 17 February '09

Sorry to start a boring thread but judging by guitar-based posts in the past there's plenty of people on DiS who know their stuff, so hopefully someone can help!
I'm planning on going from a solid state amp (Laney MXD 65 which is slowly dying) to a valve amp but am feeling a bit lost.
A head would be more useful than a combo at the minute as I'm gonna be lugging it to and from practices. It also has to be quiet enough to use at home without upsetting people. So maybe 5 to 15 watts? Other factors that would be useful: effects loop, overdrive channel, reverb. Other than that a decent clean sound and light overdrive is the main aim - I'm happy to use pedals for the serious rocking out side of things.

All suggestions welcome - nothing over £500 though (preferably a fair bit less than that)
Thanks in advance
