Officially releasing demos of previously released songs.

What is the point in this? Is it just a cheap excuse for b-sides and filling up second discs of reissued albums? I was listening to that Low boxset on the tube this morning and though I think it is a really good release, I really can’t see myself listening to the demos of certain songs ever again. Cut is a great song but what does the demo do differently that the original song didn’t (apart from the tape hiss)? Can you think of any demos that are far superior to the album release? I really don’t think I can.
