Guitar Help Please

Corpsey [Edit] [Delete] 23:44, 3 March '09

I'm sure there are plenty of guitarists on DiS, many of whom are much better than me, and I am pleading for your help.

I've been playing for quite a few years and would describe myself as somewhere between beginner and intermediate level. The trouble is that recently I've felt like my playing has seriously stagnated, and possibly worsened, almost entirely down to lack of practice.

I want to get better, but I'm not sure how. I already know the basics, but everything I write sounds the same and I lose interest quickly due to not knowing many things to play. People usually say "learn to play something you like" but the music I like tends not to be tabbed anywhere and my ear really isn't good enough to work things out.

So basically I just need advice on how to structure practice, and how to progress from a beginner level to something a lot better, as well as being able to write decent stuff again.

Thanks a lot!
