Guitarists: Moving from 9s to 11s, 12s or maybe even 13s? Anyone done this?

TheoGB [Edit] [Delete] 14:39, 4 March '09

Yeah, I'm a weak fingered type. I don't develop calluses and this lead to me restringing my acoustic with electric 11s (wound G string) and because the electric I learned on was strung with 9s that's what I've always played. 10s and 11s seemed heavy and prone to plectrum destroying.

But I was reading today about how much difference strings can make to your sound and realised that now I'm not learning guitar going through Radiohead tab books, I don't really do string bends that much so maybe I can solve some of my guitar's evil sustain issues with some fatter strings.

The annoying thing is they're not something it's that easy to swap around with so anyone got some thoughts on this?
