Music Social More…

Would you expect most people with a self-declared interest in music to have heard of Nick Cave?

Just chanced across a thread on eFestivals' Reading board where someone seems genuinely angry that this bloke he's never heard of is headlining the NME tent when the Fratellis are far more popular. This isn't a hipster thing, I'm just thinking on whether you'd expect someone at that level of long service and specific market popularity to have achieved name recognition on a wider scale. (And the same for, I suppose, Tom Waits, Leonard Cohen, the Fall... thinking also about the thread someone posted to on the Isle Of Wight Festival forum where nobody had heard of Neil Young)
