Your Top 10 'Post-Punk' records

stwerewolf [Edit] [Delete] 12:57, 19 March '09

i'm halfway through 'Rip it Up and Start Again' (great book!) and i've been listening to alot of post-punk again as a result.

i was trying to decide what my 10 favourite records were on the toilet earlier.

i'd say it would be easier if we stuck to the 70's + 80's, although i realise there are a lot of great post-punk sounding records from more recent times.

1. Wire - Pink Flag
2. This Heat - Deceit
3. Mission of Burma - Vs
4. the Birthday Party - Junkyard
5. Joy Division - Unknown Pleasures
6. Suicide - s/t
7. the Cure - Pornography
8. Swans - Cop
9. PiL - Metal Box
10. Devo - Question: Are We Not Men? Answer: We Are Devo!

special mention goes to DNA. can't really include them as the only full-length record they had was a compilation released in 2004.

pretty bog-standard shit, but this book has made me want to delve into Pere Ubu, Cabaret Voltaire, Bauhaus and Throbbing Gristle etc, so who knows.
