Despite being a big fan of people in his field, I find him pretty crap.

His voice doesn't have the coolness of the people he's influenced by. He doesn't sing with any authority. He seems to be too trebly to pull off the crooner thing. Maybe if he'd have been a heavier smoker I'd have liked him better.
