Loving Local Bands.

little-lucas [Edit] [Delete] 21:41, 20 April '09

Do you find it strange, no not strange...un-natural, no not un-natural... When you love a local band do you get that feeling off "I shouldn't love them that much because it's just ol' <insert names here>". Especially when you know the people?

I always do, a bit, I think.

I'm not saying they shouldn't be loved as much as any other band, because every band is local to someone. And they're no less important, in fact I see some of them as the most important bands there are for me, because they're the ones that I can see in tiny venues surrounded by people I know, and watch the band as the grow.

It's just this feeling I have. I think it's almost as if I'm embarrassed about liking them so much.

Project Mork, for instance, are one of my favourite bands of all time, I'd rather go to see them than a huge amount of other bands, and their album could quite possibly be my most listened to album. I love Project Mork. But I wouldn't say to the guys in Mork, "oh yeah, by the way, I fucking love your band more than a lot of other things".

Mustard City Rockers are another example.

When I saw Visual Offence play their last gig a few months ago, it was very emotional, in a raw passion way, thing for me. (If you could make that sound a bit less pathetic in your head for me please)

And Dorian Gay, of whom I believe there's some members who post on here. At their first gig I had no idea if they were local or anything, but from the off I knew that band is a band that I'm going to continue being very enthusiastic about for quite some time.
