emusic - US price increases, major label deals?

ContentToPlayVillain [Edit] [Delete] 20:38, 1 June '09

There's a whole bunch of threads on the emusic boards, and various blog posts scattered around that seem to suggest that there's going to be an upcoming price increase for emusic in the US, of a pretty substantial amount. There's a post on the emusic boards here where someone says that their 90 downloads for $19.99 has become 50 downloads under the new system:

This seems to be related to plans to include major label stuff like sony on the site:

Does anyone have more info on this? I will be quite unhappy if this comes to the UK. I don't want to sound like an indie snob, but there isn't that much major label stuff I'm interested in getting, and certainly not enough to justify that kind of price hike. Especially when major label stuff is generally cheapest to buy from shops anyway.
