Guitarists don't truely study their instrument anymore

Staple [Edit] [Delete] 16:15, 17 June '09

Where have all the competent guitarists gone? The expansion of the internet has led to the creation of a generation of terrible guitarists.

The popularity of internet tabs and teaching dvd's has stopped young guitar players from learning to play guitar by listening to records. Without listening they will never learn to play with feeling and soul, they will never realise how many truly different and varied forms of music their are, and they will never be able to competently play in a band.

Things need to change. Guitarists have to start studying the Royal College of Music guitar grades and start listening and picking out records.

Unless people change I'm afraid that the public will be subject to the same dull and lifeless music that has characterised this country's music scene for almost the past thirty years. The most important aspect of a guitarist's life is what he listens to!!
