holy_coe [Edit] [Delete] 19:30, 10 July '09

Really looking forward to this tomorrow...3 superb bands

Notting Hill Arts Club from 4pm

Bands:

WISE CHILDREN
http://www.myspace.com/wisechildrenuk

Wise Children are an indie-folk band from the South coast of England. Their songs are both intimate and colourful yet haunting with influences ranging from Nick Drake to Frightened Rabbit and Sigur Ros to Bon Ivor. The band have recently been signed by Vacuous Pop with their debut album due later this summer.

"One of the most fresh, engaging and beautiful records that I have ever heard. Equally at home in intimate venues, over commercial airwaves or the coolest of cool playlist-jockey's iPod; Wise Children have everything they need to achieve bigger things."
- SouthScene

"the music sways towards the broken down, beautiful and intelligent sounds that echoes bands such as The Decemberists. Guitars are finger picked and weave a healthy number of chords together, often in patterns that should not work, but do".
- MintSouth

“Really excellent stuff” – Huw Stephens (Radio 1)

TRISTAN & THE TROUBADOURS
http://www.myspace.com/tristanandthetroubadours

Tristan & the Troubadours have an expansive line-up and no obvious lead - their sound is dense and diverse, piano and violin equal partners to the guitars. Equally though, their songs are short, very sweet and packed with a giddy, youthful exuberance. Their recent Demo Of The Month review described them as "a great mix of fluffy jangle-pop naiviety and something more virulent from the gloomier side of New York's musical underground." - Nightshift

STAGECOACH

File somewhere between Fleetwood Mac and Pavement. Sunshine powerpop for BMX kids.

'Smart songwriting and memorable hooks. Like the lighter, classic side of emo meets Teenage Fanclub' – Rocksound

PLUS Vacuous Pop djs
