Are Number 1 Singles Relevant To The Youth?

gram_caxton [Edit] [Delete] 13:16, 8 August '09

When I was at school, about 10 years ago, I always remember everyone would know what number 1 was in the singles chart; you were made up if a band you liked got to No.1.

What with downloads changing the way the charts work, I wondered if people still cared about the charts? Most of the music I like these days isn’t going to get into the charts and I’m also older, so not too bothered, but do the ‘youth’ still listen avidly to the charts on Radio 1? Do bands even care about getting to no.1 anymore seeing as it changes so frequently?
