Killer old altdance tunes

TheWza [Edit] [Delete] 11:58, 27 August '09

This stems from the straight-up rave tunes thread.

PostPunk, PunkFunk etc and the whole Gang of Four to Talking Heads to New Order era stuff pre-dates what I'm thinking of, but it serves as the foundations for the stuff that's not necessarily straight-up guitar stuff or straight up electronic or dance or disco.

I'm thinking Baggy/IndieDance/BigBeat/Electroclash/NuRave... all fairly faddish genres killed by hype. But they all had their classics.

I'm thinking stuff with crossover appeal. Fun dance stuff with a dash of pop sensibility (i.e. a melodic hook or chorus in there somewhere).

Pop Will Eat Itself, Happy Mondays, Inspiral Carpets, EMF, Jesus Jones, Utah Saints, Altern8, Chemical Bros, Death in Vegas, Fischerspooner, Peaches, The Rapture, Tom Vek, Test Icicles, Klaxons....
