Screaming Tea Party, BO NINGEN, Deep Sht & Dignan Porch - 17 October @ The Victoria!!!

Scenenotherd [Edit] [Delete] 14:14, 2 October '09

Scene Not Herd present for you, a lineup of the finest up and coming bands London has to offer. Seriously, this is gonna be awesome.

Screaming Tea Party

London based trio Screaming Tea Party create a genuinely eclectic mix of boy/girl Anglo-Japanese shout-pop, classic three-minute post-punk, new-wave groove, surf guitar and psychedelia, all performed with youthful exuberance and the falsetto backing vocals of singing drummer Nell. Guitarist Niiyan is an exceptional musician as well as visually arresting, wearing a gas-mask and often ending gigs only wearing his pants.

Unhinged melodies in the vein of Beach Boys on occasions, and the switching between abrasive/melodic guitars reminiscent of Thurston Moore, add to the sparkly pop songs that lay under the sea of noise they so often create. A must see band.

Bo Ningen

Riding a wave generated almost solely by the ferocity of their live shows, these guys mean business. Their songs are intricately layered results, replete with riffs that Black Sabbath, The Stooges and The Minutemen could’ve all written, sunk into lengthy ambient beds, squalls of noise and twisted grooves.

Recent shows have seen them captivate crowd leading to on occasions delirious fans stage diving mid set. Referred to by many as the best live band in London, Bo Ningen are making a name for themselves this year, and a planned release in the upcoming months will surely no doubt give them the mass adulation they deserve.

Deep Sht

Taking the best bits of surf guitars, Joy Division and My Bloody Valentine and crafting perfect songs is no easy task, however, these guys make it seem effortless. With the vocals floating in a sea of reverb underlined with memorable and melodic guitars lines, their talent has not gone unnoticed, being speedily snapped up by the uber cool NO Pain in Pop label. They have an EP out on the 19th, so what better place to catch them before deciding to buy their EP on the Monday after the gig!

Dignan Porch

This new London band are the epitome of sweet melodic garage pop, their flowery yet melancholic sound is the perfect soundtrack to lazy summer days and autumn sunsets. Evoking memoirs of an era past, yet never sounding over familiar, this young troupe have a bright 2009 ahead of them. Catch them now before they inevitably explode.
