I've just been watching some stuff on Gil Scott Heron on TV and I want to check out some more of his stuff. But it also got me thinking that I know absolutely NOTHING about old rap/hip-hop, motown or old 'black music' in general, even though I generally seem to quite like of it when I hear it.

I'm also in the process of putting a kinda 'lazy Sunday' on at a local pub in London and one of the things I want is a good DJ or two that'll play that kind of old chilled out music (none of that 'Ministry of Sound Chill Out album nonsense!).

So, where should I start? I know it's a pretty wide genre I've given you, but fire away. I'm armed and ready with Spotify...

And secondly, does anyone here DJ that sort of music? Give me a shout if you do!
