Music Social More…

The Beatles genuinely weren't that great.

I'm sure you all know this already though, it's just the uneducated souls who buy about 2 albums a year that think the sun shines from their backsides. My friend's dad once had a drunken debate in which he defended The Beatles yet said he didn't even know who Radiohead were... wow! Obviously everyone is entitled to an opinion but how can you take this one seriously? Most people decide The Beatles are good before they actually pick up an album, just like so many other uber-popular "classic" bands like Led Zeppelin and The Who. I've heard virtually everything they've produced and it's seriously underwhelming, none of their albums are anything more than mediocre.

Can anyone suggest why their music is so great? I don't want any of this rubbish about "you had to be there". Plenty of kids listen to them these days and none of them were born back in the 60s so what's the deal?

With all the negativity flying around the music board I fancied adding to it.
