Record related stats

Ten years ago 25,000 albums were released a year.

In 2009: 100K albums were digitally distributed (which isn't the exact same as 'released' but it isn't far off)

However, music/technology biz veteran Ted Cohen says "less than one tenth of one percent (0.001%) of music released sold over ten thousand units."

Surely more than 100 albums sold over 10,000 records this year? I'm guessing this percantage is for overall sales. Anyone have a stat for total number of records/units sold in 2009? Ithink they do it Dec 1s through end of November for a "year"

Also if anyone's interested there's a chart based on sales here http://www.billboard.com/#/charts-year-end
