Advertising in the press

M-I-E [Edit] [Delete] 16:43, 2 January '10

I've got a new release coming up in the next couple of months and I've been thinking about buying an ad space in a magazine/paper. The band in question make experimental ambient pop and the other couple of releases on my label which i would incorporate in the advert are of a similar style. I had thought Plan B was going to be an ideal place to advertise their music but its been no more for ages. So to with Bearded. So out of the smaller press theres what, The Wire and Rocka Rolla left, the last is not exactly the right demography. So has any small independent label advertised recently? if so where do you think its best to advertise with this type of music and any tips/help how to go about it, inculding rough prices, would be much appreciated.
