Isn’t it gutting when you find out lyrics you particularly like turn out not to be the words you thought they were?
Happened quite a few times to me, but most recently today when I found out the lyric in The Walkmen’s ‘Four Provinces’ isn’t “polished my heart, give me gin and cigars” as I thought, but actually “polished mahogany, gin and cigars”…
