Kath Bloom shows this weekend

micromegas [Edit] [Delete] 12:02, 22 February '10

I saw kath bloom play twice at cafe OTO this weekend and she was really remarkable.
She is not so well known over here but loved by Scout Nibblett and Bill Callahan (who did a beautiful cover of her Bill Callahan 'The breeze my baby cries' on the 'Loving Takes This Course' (Chapter Music) and many others.
Her new album is released on Mark Kozelek's own label and you can't help but fall in love with her natural and very human songs and her other worldly wavering voice.
She has been playing for many years and I think now is the right time for her to reach a wider audience, as the new folk/post folk scene has taken off and although Kath is from the original 60's folk era, her music is quite similar, albeit in an unaffected way to the celebrated folk acts of today.
Kath is really something special and you have to check her out!
I podcasted her set from teh saturday show here at http://www.damnably.com/ and her site is at www.myspace.com/kathbloomchapter
