February's Finest (albums/gigs/songs/threads)

sean [Edit] [Delete] 11:08, 25 February '10

Ok, so we're into the final days of the shortest month of the year, HOW WAS IT FOR YOU?

Here's my monthly playlist with some of the best bits of the month
http://www.spotify.com/blog/archives/2010/02/24/february-music-playlist-courtesy-of-drowned-in-sound/

Here (also over here --->>) you'll find the select bunch of recommended albums from our staff http://drownedinsound.com/lists/recommended-records

Most Read of the Month (so far)
1) Yeasayer 'Odd Blood' http://drownedinsound.com/releases/15078/reviews/4138988
2) Primavera 10th Anniversary (thread)
3) Rage-istration (thread)
4) First Listen: Gorillaz 'Plastic Beach' http://drownedinsound.com/in_depth/4139166-first-listen--gorillaz-plastic-beach
5) Massive Attack 'Heligoland' http://drownedinsound.com/releases/15074/reviews/4138980

Gigs: Not been to many gigs and not seen any amazing gigs this month - tho I am seeing Vuk tonight http://www.myspace.com/vukmusic and Gaga on Saturday!

Albums: Really liking the Pantha Du Prince album http://drwndnsnd.com/~cw4GBx - tis a mixture of quiet pulsing minimal techno, wind chimes and a little bit of glo-fi... Mostly been listening to the Jonsi and Broken Bells records but they're not out for a bit and the Blood Red Shoes and Frightened Rabbit records which are out next week!

Songs: Liars 'Scissors' but apart from that, not much. Weirdly I've not really found much this month, but then I've not really been trying as I've spent a lot of time delving back and listening to Bowie 'Low', Motown compilations, Laura Nyro and lots of Eno. I guess I'm trying to set benchmarks as I'm considering restarting the label and figuring out if there's a new business model. More news soon.

Thread: This was really eye-opening and touching, thank you all http://drownedinsound.com/community/boards/music/4246972

So, in whatever format you like, what were your feb favourites?
