Who/Where are the great Guitarists?

Midnight_Rambler [Edit] [Delete] 03:32, 27 February '10

I remember reading an interview with Jonny Greenwood quite a few years ago, were he described standing by the side of the stage at a Blur gig and recounting how inferior Graham Coxon made him feel as a guitarist. As someone we plays, I'd agree with him.

I'm 33, and I consider both Coxon and Greenwood as probably the best guitarists of my generation, although admittedly from my blinkered indie perspective. I do realise that there might have have been more flashy guitarists plying their trade during that time (probably in Metal or something). But I see a lot of merit in restraint, and doing whats right for the song.

Anyway, I've just been watching the new Blur DVD, and I was wondreing. Who are the great guitarists of this generation?

No one seems to be lauded anymore, and I honestly can't think of anyone. So would welcome your suggestions?

Also, was there anyone better in the 90's?
