Music Reviews

elyka [Edit] [Delete] 16:29, 9 March '10

i try not to read reviews before listening to music, so that i'm not biased in my opinion. i don't really care whether or not the album/song gets recommended, because the only real importance is whether the music gives me some form of enjoyment. however there are a few things that seem superfluous and put me off when reading reviews.
-giving music an objective score. why????
-comparing the music to the artists previous efforts. it gives the impression that you had certain preconceived expectations before listening to the album and are just fulfilling your prophecy now.
-sentences that are paragraphs and also on this note there seems to be a misguided belief that big fancy words give a review more validity. i don't want to have to be a linguist (or consult my dictionary/wiki every sentence) in order to understand your opinion.
