Music Social More…

"Are we now completely confusing the sensation of invention and creativity with that of deft emulation?"

sean [Edit] [Delete] 16:14, 21 March '10

The above quote, from David Mitchell in today's Observer Review really hits the nail on the head of most of what's wrong with both mainstream retro-obsessed pop and blog-buzz-bands who sound just like last week's flavour of the moment. Anyway, this isn't about much but you could reword it and it could easily be about music http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2010/mar/21/shakespeare-television

On the flipside, why is there so much fear of the unfamiliar? It's odd how 'indie kids' often don't embrace the outer fringes either.

Or is this all just SAME AS IT EVER WAS?
