Ga'an

somethingforjoey [Edit] [Delete] 11:24, 2 May '10

Hello y'all,

I help to run Records on Ribs: a label which releases all its music for free via a creative commons license.

We've just released an album by Chicago band Ga'an (feat. members of Coughs and Panicville), and it'd almost certainly appeal to people on here. It's absolutely astonishing.

It holds up a warped mirror to classic prog, refracting its weirder elements. Fans of Popol Vuh, Magma, Goblin and perhaps Dead Can Dance will experience a familiarity, but Ga’an’s take on their exploratory sounds is uncanny enough to disrupt any feelings of nostalgia, giving them an affective- if not aesthetic- similarity to the liminal synth drones of Emeralds, Infinity Window and Onehtrix Point Never.

Ga’an have played with the likes of Faust, Om, Bardo Pond, Disappears and Lichens.

The free download is here: http://recordsonribs.com/download/gaan/

It's astonishing: trust me.
