Music Social More…

Will there ever be another John Peel?

sean [Edit] [Delete] 10:52, 17 May '10

Was involved in an interesting debate on Friday at the Great Escape, and some of it was picked up by the Guardian today http://www.guardian.co.uk/tv-and-radio/2010/may/16/traditional-djs-survive-internet-radio-revolution

Just wondered what people thought of the above question, as it stirred a fair bit of debate.

Personally, I think the time of people looking to one individual to expose them to music and that one person having a huge amount of influence is gone as there are so/too many other individuals exposing people to music. People now prefer things to be more personalized and entwined with their own taste.

Out of curiosity, which radio shows now turn you on to music that you end up falling in love with? Or do websites or individuals do a better job of it?
