Are there too many bands these days?

Alcarez [Edit] [Delete] 16:48, 19 May '10

I find I can't keep up/don't want to keep up anymore 'coz it brings me out in some Sartrean nausea... "Quick, what do I listen to next before it all slips through my fingers like water that I can never hold onto..?"
I usually go home, put on something lasting like The Smiths/Bunnymen/early Suede/Achtung Baby etc and shut my door to the incessant noise of the world of new music.
What's wrong with the bands we already have? Are we (the music-listening/buying public) guilty of not giving enough support to the existing bands that we like in the rush for 'the new', which means that many of them have to call it a day?
Anyone else feel like this?
