Anais Mitchell, 'Hadestown'

michael_w [Edit] [Delete] 16:07, 20 May '10

i can't remember the last time i was so dissapointed with a new record

no real grit, no real beauty....just trundles along nicely enough.

it sounds like the soundtrack to a lost Disney film....which isn't a bad thing....it would probably be an amazing piece of work in that context.....but as an album its just feels so flat.

the thought and the intention and the aspiration can't be faulted, obviosuly...it's a beautiful idea in its scope and ambition...and one that more or less achieves what it sets out to

but i still can't help but find it pretty dull listening....

feel free to tell me why i'm so wrong
