anyone see Rangda / Acid Mothers in Bristol at the weekend?

What a fantastic gig. Acid Mothers played a fairly safe and heavy set that had me grinning through the whole thing. I thought the stand-in bass player did a good job.

Rangda were pretty great by the end too. I was initially a bit disappointed that the album was mostly presented as it is on CD, given the collective pedegree of the 3 guys I was expecting a bit more improv. The drums were also too low during First Family - Corsano's showcase piece.

They really took off on Plain of Jars though and departed a lot more from the album's closing piece. You can tell they are a new band but that last tune hinted that they could be pretty awesome by the time they return for ATP. If I was going to that festival I certainly wouldn't miss them.
