Best of May // June highlights? (gigs'n'records-centric)

sean [Edit] [Delete] 23:22, 9 June '10

Not sure we've had one of these threads yet.

So, what were your favourite purchases, discoveries or gigs or May?

And what are you looking forward to/excited by this month?

For me...

May was all about The National and Villagers lps, and incredible shows by both. The Jonsi gig was incredible. Having said that, DEFTONES delivered and then some with their new record (possibly my album of the year!), which was every bit as good as Diver said it was live http://drownedinsound.com/in_depth/4139962-deftones-london-ulu-may-12th-2010 (which is by far one of the finest things i've read this year!)

June, I'm looking forward to spending some time with the Ratatat lp, pleasantly surprised by the new Johnny Flynn album and curious to hear the new Ed Harcourt album. Gigs wise, lots on but not got much in my diary apart from Caribou + Mount Kimbie next week, Broken Bells (if i can procure a ticket) and seeing Pearl Jam in Hyde Park.

And you?

p.s. my latest monthly playlist for Spotify is now up http://www.spotify.com/uk/blog/archives/2010/06/09/drowned-in-sound-may-playlist/
