“These Are Powers are electronic noise bandits from Brooklyn. Most of what they manufacture is a collaboration between improv, using toys, a bunch of different pedals with guitars and vocals run through processors with dense almost tribal drum beats. It’s difficult to find a point of reference when defining their sound – No Wave and Post Punk are just lazy drop ins but predictably these are often used. There’s some Prog, hip hop and a touch of Ska and techno but importantly there’s that all important energy that this three piece has bags of. They are very much a live band making spontaneous beats on the fly while using samples. Modern beat-heavy frenetic noise pop dance music with lashings of fun and sassy energy.”
