Name a band whose final album was their only self-titled.

Violator [Edit] [Delete] 18:53, 30 July '10

You see, I've been listening to Interpol's fourth s/t effort and although it's not clear it will be their last album, there's a lot about it which feels like it should be.

We know that it's the last album recorded with Carlos D. as bassist and although bands often survive key members leaving, there's many that don't. The sound of the album seems to me to be like one big swan song - it's understated and claustrophobic and it just feels like a band playing down at the end of the night. Hell, even the cover art is a picture of the band's name breaking apart.

Perhaps it's not the end for 'the Pol' but it got me thinking - there is something rather nice and satisfying about a band signing off so to speak, with a self-titled album. Most bands use their debut to advertise themselves but it seems so much better that a great band leaves it until they've exhausted their contribution to music. In a way, perhaps it's like saying, "thankyou ladies and gentlemen, we were _________" and that seems quite nice to me, I guess.

Any bands who've done this and was the album any good?
