Electronic music & instruments, there should be more interaction between the two

Yurodivyi [Edit] [Delete] 10:32, 6 August '10

About 5, 6 six years ago, I remember I was having loads of discussions with people about how we thought electronic music was developing into something that included good old instruments. There was a tendency to include instruments such as guitar, sax, drums into the liveset of people who were mainly operating on laptop/ electronics basis only before.
It was going on in all kinds of corners of the music world, LCD Soundsystem was just making name for itself, there was a live concert with seminal hardcore DJ Rob and members of Slipknot, Pantera and others, I saw collabs between the likes of Haino Keiji and Melvins etc.
This move towards the use of conventional instruments used in electronic based music never took off as hard as I thought it would, but the wish to move beyond just using your laptop, or electronics on stage is still prevalent today. As can be witnessed with FlyLo's Infinity and Gonjasufi's upcoming tour with band for example.
I think it's a good thing when people do this, it really adds something extra to electronic music, what do you think?

p.s. The use of electronics in instrument based bands can also add a world of joy to the music, an example is Polar Bear who incorporated Leafcutter John into their ranks.
