So, it's my missus's birthday coming up and we've hired out a room in a bar near us and we have complete control over the playlist for once. We were gonna do a massive rock/indie/poppy party playlist of stuff we knew but then thought how it'd be so much better to do a funk and soul theme.

We're not that well up on our funk and soul, but after seeing Craig Charles at the Big Chill it's obvious we know most of the songs, just not who they're by. It was such a great set and obvious it would go down great at a party.

We'll probably have a look at his show playlists and see whats there but I'm sure some of you with wider tastes will have some cracking suggestions, so let's here 'em! In the process hopefully I'd plug an embarassing gap in my knowledge....
