When was your musical golden age?

SCROTUM [Edit] [Delete] 16:12, 17 September '10

I've been sorting stuff for uni and I just found a drink-stained white tee with the signatures of Alex Turner, members of Mystery Jets, The Young Knives, Larrikin Love and Patrick Wolf and a Gonzo On Tour poster signed by Be Your Own Pet, Kubichek!, Zane Lowe and Nine Black Alps. Early 2006 at a Camden Barfly all-dayer and late 2005 at the same venue, respectively. I was 14.

There's a raft of amazing music out right now, I'm absorbing so much and it's terrific but I don't seem to really love the music like I used to when I was 13/14 and it was all about Franz and Maxïmo Park and that bunch. Back then I used to write to people on Myspace and wait around venues to have photos with Bloc Party and horde merch and try to get as involved as possible. At gigs I'd be pressed into the mosh, sticky and crushed, crowdsurfing loads as well. Now I just can't be arsed.

Probably just a combination of growing up and appreciating a wider scope means I don't live inside choice albums and singles anymore - mainstream indie-pop in my case - but it's triggered major melancholic nostalgia. Maybe I just suck.

What about youse?
