A week after release and half a dozen or so listens the new Deerhunter is shaping up to be good but not great for me. Listening this morning I realised that if it were Atlas Sound I'd think it were pretty sweet (say 7.5/10), but not up there with Cryptograms (say 9/10) or Microcastle (say 8.5/10).

Some really good songs though: Helicopter is gorgeous, the final track is super, some nice linkages throughout. Be interesting to see how is shapes up in the medium-term.
