Best music for work/revision/that sort of thing

SCROTUM [Edit] [Delete] 17:48, 20 October '10

I'm jumping into 1st year at uni and suddenly rocking out isn't viable when summarising articles on liberalism. Seems like gurgling, bubbling electronics or the mellowest of mellow alt-rock might start to rule the roost. Thus far the following have kept me well in reading/writing (though I drift off to sleep now and again):

Boards of Canada - Geogaddi
Kraftwerk - Trans-Europe Express
CFCF - Continent
J Dilla - Donuts
Darkstar - North
Luke Abbott - Holkham Drones
Galaxie 500 - On Fire
Panda Bear - Person Pitch
FaltyDL - Love Is A Liability

But I've found even calm records like the new Warpaint, Portishead and In Rainbows to be too distracting. Lyrics just seem a no-no in most cases.

So, any recommendations? This kind of music isn't necessarily my favourite but it creates a better work atmosphere to be honest. And what do you like to stick on when tryna get stuff done? Can you work with heavy beats/riffs?
