I don't know if anyone else has heard of them, but the lead singer/bassist/main contributer Michael Shuman is the bassist for Queens of the Stone Age. His new band just put out their debut and it sounds like a cross between the Beatles and Elliott Smith with throwbacks to the Beach Boys. I reviewed it here:
