So I'm listening to "Together we're heavy" by Polyphonic Spree on surround sound speakers

and it's utterly fantastic. This is one of those ambitous, expansive concept albums that comes out and is lost due to sudden public indifference. You can tell the band really poured their heart into this and wanted to make their definitive statement. The album is often all over the place as it bounces from idea to idea but still feels cohesive. It's loud, colourful, grand in scope and ends beautifully. Suddenly everyone decided The Polyphonic Spree were some gimick band or something and everyone wrote them off. Never was sure why. The one time I saw them live was definitely one of the more powerful, communal shows i'd ever witnessed. I'd say this album needs rediscovered. It's one of those expensive big idea albums that studios don't let bands make anymore.
