Getting CD packaging printed

pmj1980 [Edit] [Delete] 10:29, 6 January '11

Advice on CD packaging please - obviously I realise that I can just google this and have a look, but I figured somebody on here might have some positive or negative experience with one of the many, many companies that come up when I do a search.

What I'm after is a run of about 100 CDs with nicely printed sleeves. Probably some kind of card sleeve, I expect digipacks are incredibly expensive but I quite like those ones you get these days where it opens like a wallet and you have the disc slotted into the right-hand half and the booklet in the left. We'd probably also want to be able to have some kind of inlay to go in it, which could be a folded 'poster' type sheet rather than a booklet if that made much of a difference. We'd want the discs printed on if possible but, crucially, they have to be blank CDRs that we can burn later rather than them putting music on them for us. I think we'd also want old-school mailing list cards, but I expect it would be easier to get those printed separately.

These aren't actually for a record we want to put out - they're for my wedding invitations! We thought it would be much better than a dull piece of stationary. We'll choose a bunch of songs to go on the disc, which is why they have to be blank - obviously a CD pressing place isn't going to breach copyright for us by making us 100 copies of an unlicensed compilation. The mailing list cards would be the RSVP portion of the invitations. Sadly, I do not live at 3 Alveston Place, Leamington Spa.

Is this going to be horrendously expensive? Anyone got any useful advice or recommendations for companies to talk to?
