Liking the 'new projects' of a band you loved which split up more than the original band

tobythecat [Edit] [Delete] 14:30, 16 March '11

- This doesn't seem to happen very often.

Let me clarify - whenever a band I love splits up I always console myself by imagining that whatever the guys from the band gets up to next will surely also be amazing. But this never seems to happen. In fact I can't think of any occassion where a band i've loved has split up, and then i've liked the resulting band/solo stuff more than the original band. Case in point: DFA1979, Million Dead, Aereogramme, Q + Not U, Youthmovies, many more. I always believe that the band members will continue to

The closest I can think of to describing what i'm talking about is McClusky -> FOTL, but I was never that into McClusky before they split so it doesnt fit for me. Also I really like Toby from MMISL's solo stuff, but its still not a patch on MMISL.

Anyone got any good examples of when this HAS happened? Or examples of when you had high hopes for post-split projects which were ultimately disappointing (lots more of these I reckon)
