Is there an interest in listening to albums in public/loud spaces as public events?

Like a cinema screening, but for an album? Obviously live performance fulfils some of this function, especially for certain types of music, but this is slightly different. I remember hearing Loveless cranked in a really loud bar before a gig one time and just thinking - this is the loudest I've ever listened to this - awesome! (This was years ago, prior to MBV reformation).

I recall seeing something about playing a different Tangerine Dream album at Shoreditch Church a while back, which I guess is along the same lines.

Or is it all a bit hippy 'Dark Side Of The Moon' with the lights dimmed?
