Just watched 'wu lyf' in Leeds

Jesus Christ.

I felt like I was an unsuspecting member of a music video audience.

I'd heard one or two of their tracks on youtube and thought "Yeah it's ok, might as well go see em."

Amazing. Not only is their music itself stunningly MOR Kings of Leon tribute-esque, but the crowd is like nothing I've ever experienced.

I've never seen so many very-fit models turn up for a show at Shopkeepers. Girls who blatantly have no interest in indie music whatsoever, but somehow have an almost psychic understanding of when to 'Whoop' and when to start jumping mid-song.

This is also the first time I have ever witnessed people run in from the sides of the audience to initiate moshpits at what the band announced to be "the best song of the next ten years".

The venue announced tickets had sold out a couple of days ago, despite the fact loads were still available as I found out when I rang the ticketline.

I'd heard there was some 'weird' stuff around this band's sound. Definitely not. They're so Radio 2 it's amazing. The only 'weird' thing about them is how choreographed their "fans" are when it comes to pogo-ing to their songs.

Whichever record company is pushing these - you're probably making a mistake. You'd have got more money out of marketing the singer as a Caleb Followill tribute act than as a 'scary, really weird' indie band leader.
