Spotify changes tomorrow (and a question before it does...)

dan_thw [Edit] [Delete] 14:43, 30 April '11

So we have reached the end of the unlimited free Spotify dream. Fair enough I guess, suppose it was naive to think it was gonna last forever.

However one thing I don't understand is that I have been a user from pretty much its inception, and had Spotify Free, however, it is only new users which get to benefit from getting to use the service as it was (as far as I can tell, 20 hours per week with unlimited plays on songs rather than 10 hours with maximum 5 plays on songs) for an extra six months. This seems a little counterintuitive, but I assume it is for legal reasons as otherwise it doesn't make sense.

So I was wondering, if I sign up to a new account today, does that mean I get to use the better free service for the next six months? Or is it only for people who were lucky enough to sign up between November 1st last year, and when they announced the changes on April 14th?
