Basement recording advice- Thee oh sees/Oblivians/Sonics etc

cahill [Edit] [Delete] 18:38, 2 May '11

Hi,

Just making a quick E.P with 3 other mates down in my Basement with very limited recording gear (Usual drums, vocal, guitar, bass with a few mics, audio interface, few amps). Now im quite the novice but as you can see from the influences above im wanting the music to have quite a raw garage/punk feel to it and was looking for any recording/mixing advice about how to achieve such a sound?

The songs so far sound a little too 'nice' if you get what i mean and wondered if anyone else has recorded this kind of music in this environment before and could offer any help with what they did?

Also if anyone has any links to websites where it says what bands such as Thee Oh sees/Oblivians/Sonics/Early White Stripes or any garage/punk did to record/mix their songs that would be greatly appreciated.
