Albums initially lauded but no longer seen as 'classic'

toffeedaz [Edit] [Delete] 19:39, 8 May '11

We've recently had a thread about albums initially panned but now seen as classic.

This got me thinking about the opposite....

What about those albums initially loved by the critics that aren't regarded as classics today.

Examples I can think of:

Sugar - Copper Blue (NME album of 1992)
Boo Radleys - Giant Steps (NME & Select album of 1993)

Both of these I own and still like, particularly Copper Blue.

But why are they not seen as classics today?
Are they just not worthy? Are they just good albums of their time? Is it because they are not seen as 'landmark albums' that changed music?
