This might be too boring to discuss on here but he articulated loads of stuff i've been thinking about for a while. And I can't decide if it's beneficial or not.

"Fanatical identification with an artist/scene has given way to drifting eclecticism and partial allegiance"

It's a case of Too Much Information isn't it? I have a passing knowledge of LOADS of stuff now but idk if it's enriching mai life or just turning into a machine that is constantly consuming stuff without paying much attention to it. You could realistically listen to something new and exciting every day but surely it's going to prove more difficult to remember what made it exciting by the time the next thing comes around. Also sort of tied in with this is

"From Lil B to James Ferraro, Wiley to Sean McCann, they're unspooling an endless stream of mixtapes, cassettes, podcasts, web-only remixes...Fandom is no longer organised around anticipation...being a fan now means keeping up with the non-stop emissions of your cult icon"

I don't like it when you get into someone like James Ferraro and end up with a half good half shite collection of his stuff. Doesn't the crap stuff devalue the good stuff a bit? Do you even try to keep up with people in that way? Has anyone actually listened to all of teh Wiley Zip Files? Were you just weirdly compelled to do it

Am I thinking about this too much?
Is it time to get off the internet?
Someone say something?

Honestly if the changing nature of music in the too much information age is vaguely interesting to you definitely try and read this thing. There are millions of different inneresting points.
