Recommendations for UK indie rock bands to play megafun show in London in late August ???

dan_thw [Edit] [Delete] 16:26, 8 July '11

Background : I have organised a relatively long run of really fun and well attended semi-cover all dayers over the past three years or so where bands come and do a split set between their own ace songs and those of a classic indie band. For instance I put on 'Our Band Could BBQ Your Life' in 2009 - http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=99680228493 - which did exactly what it sounds like.

This time I am doing the first in what will hopefully become annual 20 year retrospectives, getting current UK indie-rock bands together to play split sets between their own songs and those from classic albums of 1991.

Thing is, I am a bit out of the loop having not been in a properly active band for nearly 18 months now, and I don't know who the best little bands in London (or willing and able to travel to London) are right now.

So if you can recommend any bands, or if you are in a band that might want to play, then post in this thread, send me a private message, or email fourorfivemagicians[at]hotmail[dot]co[dot]uk if you can play, probably on Saturday August 27th in south London, and can learn at least a couple of covers from ...

REM - Out of Time
Slint - Spiderland
Sebadoh - III
Teenage Fanclub - Bandwagonesque
My Bloody Valentine - Loveless
Primal Scream - Screamadelica
The KLF - The White Room
Mercury Rev - Yerself Is Steam
Pixies - Trompe Le Monde
Smashing Pumpkins - Gish
Red Hot Chili Peppers - Blood Sugar Sex Magik
Metallica - Black Album
Madonna - The Immaculate Collection

...or any other great album from 1991 you can think of (recommendations for great albums of 1991 welcome - got Nevermind sorted already!).

Look forward to hearing some great new bands to my ears!
