Am I the only person who likes CDs?

funkycow [Edit] [Delete] 16:48, 3 August '11

I was about to reply about ANOTHER person dissing CDs when I thought I'd gather opinion. Why do people hate CDs so much?

- Tapes used to wear out or get eaten by your walkman, inevitably you had to buy the CD in the end
- Vinyl requires flipping every 20 minutes. I'm lazy. Yes, I can appreciate the cover art is bigger, they don't degrade, they look nice, the sound is truer, blah blah, but try and get one in your car stereo
- mp3s (etc) are poor quality (by all means carp on about FLAC, etc), you're screwed if your computer dies, you get no physical 'thing' and no cover art at all
- CDs can be played in your car, on your stereo, on the stereo of the cheap holiday let you rent in Spain (etc), can be ripped, don't need flipping, provide a happy compromise in quality between vinyl and mp3s and as yet none of the ones I've bought in twenty years have stopped playing

Support for the humble CD please.
